We train and place people typically excluded from the film industry on professional film sets in collaboration with the Oregon Media Pathways program.

This program is for women and non-binary people, BIPOC, LBGTQIA+, people living with disability, and/or those who've experienced poverty or housing insecurity. We will not ask for proof of your identities, though we request that people seeking to participate in the program consider their own access points (education, community connections, etc) before applying.

Curious about a career in film & digital media?

We offer:

  • We offer free educational workshops in collaboration with Desert Island Studios 4 times a year. These workshops are funded by the Oregon Film office and the Portland Film Office.

    Workshops are taught by industry professionals and offer participants an opportunity to network and connect.

  • We offer monthly training sessions with industry professionals during our Tuesday Weekly Workshops. These sessions will be led by folks working in a variety of roles in the film industry and will allow for participants to ask questions and gain insight on the different ways they can work in film.

    These workshops are for people in the Homeless Youth Continuum.

  • We offer the opportunity to connect folks with mentors who are able to guide them more specifically in their career journey.

    This opportunity is only available to folks who are a part of the Homeless Youth Continuum and have been Outside The Frame participants for at least 6 months.

  • This one-day class is intended for people who want to pursue a career in film. This class is a part of the Oregon Media Pathways Program and is a prerequisite for paid internship placements.

Creating pathways to film careers!

Oregon Media Pathways is a collaboration between Oregon Film, Oregon Made Creative Foundation, the Oregon Media Production Association, Outside the Frame, IATSE Local 488, Portland Film Office, studios and producers to identify, recruit, subsidize and place candidates from under-resourced communities into paid positions in the studios and on the sets of projects filming in Oregon.
